Client Mark Metzke! http://www.crossfitnb.com/blog.php?id=7274 Mark just recently pr'd his 500M row at 1.16.   He always puts out 100% during his workouts and is always there to help someone else out!  Thanks Mark:)

Hi everybody!  My name is Mark Metzke.  I am 33 years old, 6'6"ish, and about 230lb.  I was fortunate to learn about Crossfit around 5 years ago.  I was blessed to find Crossfit Newport Beach a year after that.  The physical accomplishments that I am most proud of since arriving at Crossfit Newport Beach are probably my Fran time (improved from 3:58 to 3:12), my "Filthy 50" time (improved from 34:00 to 26:30), my "Grace" time (from 3:12 to 1:47) and my olympic lifting ("snatch" from 185 to 216 lb. and "clean and jerk" from 225 to 265lb).  Crossfit Newport Beach has truly changed my life in major and extremely positive ways.

Getting into the best shape of my life at Crossfit Newport Beach has been amazing largely because of the staff.  Owner Melissa MacKenzie is not only is a Crossfit Certified Level Two trainer, but she has instructed and certified Crossfit trainers from around the nation.  With her expertise, Melissa has hand selected and molded several of the finest trainers (Carl Borg, Jason Hill, Zack McHugh, Rob Lopez, Tony Sands and Vaughn Brotton) in Southern California to train at Crossfit Newport Beach.  Together, Melissa and her team at Crossfit Newport Beach instruct group classes and perform individual training sessions for every level of athlete.  Every day, no matter what their level of experience, clients (and even trainers) learn new techniques that help them improve rapidly, but most importantly safely.

The expert training forms the foundation of Crossfit Newport Beach, but to me physical results are just one aspect of what a this gym offers.  The people are what make Crossfit Newport Beach complete and truly a cut above the rest.  Unlike conventional gyms and even other Crossfit gyms, there are no attitudes among the clients or the trainers at Crossfit Newport Beach.  Everyone is really receptive to others on both a social and a technical level.  People want to see you improve and will literally cheer for you.  This cohesiveness allows the entire gym to advance together as a unit and is a great source of motivation.  I have met some of my closest friends at Crossfit Newport Beach and for that I am truly grateful!  There is really no other place like it!
